Expand the problem like you would the equation (x+y)^2

(sqrt(2))^2 + 2(sqrt(2)sqrt(5)) + (sqrt(5))^2

2 + 2(sqrt(10)) + 5

7 + 2(sqrt(10)) -----this is approximately 2*3 = 6

7+6 = 13
