Hi Stacy-
Looking on your opinion regarding my chances of getting into the Arizona State University Online MBA program (WP Carey).
- Undergrad (Mich State)
B.S. Physiology, Chemistry Cognate
GPA 3.01
- GMAT
590
(Quant Score 35 / Verbal Score 37)
- Work Experience
8+ years experience in IT. Can demonstrate progress in my career from Associate Account Manager to Account Manager to Senior Sales Engineer and leadership capbilities. Spent Majority of time with MCI (Verizon Business), also have done consulting work. I've managed and consulted for customers such as DHL, Texas Instruments, Halliburton, Exxon, Bank of America, Visa, many more. Work out of my home office which I feel is relevant to the ASU program since it would be online in format which demands self-motivation, discipline, etc. My point is that I perform well in the same environment on a daily basis.
- Extras
Independent Study for my Undergrad through Michigan State and UC System for a summer in California (Junior year undergrad). Did well here (4.0), but more importantly found that I did not want to do research or grad work in strict science field.
Senior year, myself and 3 other college friends started up an ISP by purchasing a T1 from MCI and resold Internet Dial-Up accounts and built Web Pages (this was back in 1996). Tremendous experience, did everything from accounts receivable to populating RADIUS database for user accounts to going door to door and selling accounts.
So here is my concern: My quant scores are weak however my verbal is solid. At the same time, I did achieve a 590 which puts me a shade above the average for ASU online's mean score (588). Also, my undergard transcripts will show an average of a 2.5 in Algebra and Calculus, but also a 3.75 in 2 semester's worth of Physics.
Long story short; what are my chances? I don't want to apply, wait 2-3 months only to get rejected for July 2007 when I could have re-taken the GMAT and improved my Quant or at least "evened out" my scores to break the 600 mark. At the same time, don't want to re-take the GMAT unless it's necessary (Wife and kid ready to move out <g>.).
Thoughts?
