I'm currently working in Utah, and applying to some schools on the East. Duke, for example, recommends interviews but you don't have to do them. How bad would it be to not do an interview because I am in the Midwest? Would that hurt my chances of getting in?

Hi Smallz,

For schools that don't require interviews, and when it would be difficult for you to travel there, I think it is reasonable not to schedule one. Most schools do have an alumni or hub option to interview candidates who are not easily able to travel - if that is an option I would suggest trying to do that. An interview is a great opportunity for you to make your case for admission, so if you have the ability to take that opportunity it could be helpful.
