Why now? Question

Many MBA Applications ask "Why get MBA Now?" What are deemed as acceptable answers and most importantly, what are the unacceptable answers?

I mean, majority of people get MBA to make a career change and they want to switch their career as soon as possible. How would one go about answering the dreaded "Why MBA now?", without giving the plain old Joe Blog answer "Because I feel I am ready to make a career change"?

Hi gmatking,

I think there are many acceptable answers. Even the one you cited is perfectly reasonable, though I might delve a bit deeper into it and want to know if you have gained everything you could from your current job, if there is anything else you could learn about your chosen career prior to school, etc. The answer to this question should show that you have really thought about it and are mature and prepared.

Just think about how you could show that you have done your homework and are absolutely poised to benefit most completely from an MBA right now.
