Profile with some other Qs ...

by camitava » Mon Dec 17, 2007 9:29 pm
Amy,
I am a member of this - "Beat the GMAT" forum since 5th Sep, 2007. This forum really helped me to prepare myself for GMAT. Amy please refer my background details -
I completed my secondary education with a score of 87.375% in 1998 and higher secondary with a score of 85.2% in 2000. Then I got admitted to engineering college with computer science and engineering as major in 2000. I completed my engineering in 2004 with CGPA 8.06 out of 10 (almost 81%). After that my professional life started and in my professional life I was rewarded many times for my dedication and hard-work. As Co-curricular activity, I like choreography, reading books and playing with computers. I have participated in many Choreography competition and have won prizes. On the other hand I, along with some friends, started helping poor people for their study and medical expenses. We have started a FUND to help the poor people of the community.
But I would like to ask you some Qs -
1. Is it possible for me to go for MBA with finance as major-obviously if I can score well?
2. Can I use the fact (to help poor people and an attempt to open a FUND/ TRUST) as the story to go for finance as major? - I know, it sounds very selfish! But I really wish to do my MBA with finance as major.
2. Can u pls give some light on financial aide for MBA study because that is very much required for me to go for MBA.
3. Can u pls explain the activities after appearing for GMAT. I mean after the exam, GMAT officials will send my score to five colleges. But if I want to send my score to some mroe colleges, then what to do? Does sending my score mean that I am applying to the college? What does the application process constitute?
Please Amy, try to answer my Qs!
Correct me If I am wrong

Amitava

Hi Amitava,

I think it's definitely possible to say that you plan to major in finance, I would communicate your actual goals rather than making something up, but if you really do want to build a fund to help poor people, you should say that.

The GMAT scores are sent to the schools you specify automatically, but you have to submit the rest of the application in order to be considered as a candidate. You can send the GMAT to more schools afterwards, though there may be a fee. The rest of the application process consists of essays, recommendations, transcripts and filling out the actual application form (usually online now.) Interviews vary by school, some are by invitation only and some are open to any applicant.

Most schools have loans available, though pure grants or scholarships are more rare. MBAs generally lead to higher salaries and professional programs are generally less oriented towards educational grants. Most schools have their aid information available online or by request to the school.

Good luck!
