MGMAT Sc Guide says "the fact that " is unidiomatic .
EDIT MGMAT Sc Guide says "the fact that " is SUSPECT.
IMO Resulting in ... is acceptable

"The fact that" is entirely idiomatic, but it is wordy, and there are often more concise ways of saying the same thing: The fact that I am exhausted should not influence your decision can be shortened to My exhaustion should not influence your decision.

"With the result that" or comma + "resulting in" would be modifying the action expressed in the main clause.

Definitely, positively suspect. There isn't ALWAYS a better way to write it, but when you see that phrase underlined, look for a better way. :)
