Bob drives at an average rate of 50 mph from Berkeley to Los Angeles, a distance of 350 miles. How long does it make him to complete the trip?

A. 4 hours
B. 5 hours
C. 7 hours
D. 10 hours
E. 12 hours

The OA is C.

I think that this is a simple question, I solved it as follow:

We know that rate = dist/time, then we have 350 miles of distance and we have an average rate of 50 mph, hence

time = dist/rate = 350 / 50 = 7 hour. Option C.

We can use the formula:

Average = total distance/total time

50 = 350/t

50t = 350

t = 7 hours

Answer: C
