Value of X

by ritula » Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:25 am
What is the value of X?

(A) When X is multiplied by 8, the result is between 50 and 60.

(B) When X is doubled, the result is between 10 and 15.

OA is E but i think it should be A because 7 is the only digit which when multiplied by 8 gives 56.

X could be 55/8 => 55/8 * 8=55
x could be 56/8 and so on and the values would be between 50 to 60 as well.

For stem 2 : take x= 51/8 * 2=12.75; x=52/8 => 52/8 * 2=13
etc..

combining also we can;t get a single unique value.

It is never told that x can only be an integer...
