Using Pythagoras' theorem,
third side: a(3)^0.5

Perimeter
= 2a + a + a(3)^0.5
= 3a + a(3)^0.5 = 60 + 20(3)^0.5
a = 20

Q2:
BC = [(5 + 3)^2 + (x + 3)^2]^0.5 = 17^2
[8^2 + (x + 3)^2] = 17^2
8-15-17 is a common Pythagorean triplet.
x + 3 = 15
x = 12
