The new contract forbids a strike by the transportation union

A) forbids a strike by the transportation union
B) forbids the transportation union from striking
C) forbids that there be a strike by the transportation union
D) will forbid the transportation union from striking
E) will forbid that the transportation union strikes

What is the right answer??

IMO A
Forbids from is not correct usage of idiom.Elliminate B,D
E changes the tense to future meaning that the new contract will forbid in future but not at present.
Between A and C ,A is concise and sounds clear than C.
What is the OA

imo A

since the new contract is singular so forbids so D and E out.

B is incorrect use of idiom
C is wordy

no correct idiom is forbids to ....... but in A there is no use of from doing...... hence A doesnt use the wrong idiom.

B has a incorrect use of idiom

The correct idiom is X forbids Y to do Z.
