Number of Letter of Recs

by migponce2003 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:05 pm
If a school asks you to turn in 2 letters of rec, can you turn in 3 or 4?

I was just seeing if this is a case where 2 is the minimum or if more is better?

Anyone ever turn in more than the requested letters of rec?

Thanks!

i would say stick to what they ask for... sometimes schools will accept informal letters from alum in support of a candidate... i actually heard a school rep say that (don't remember which school though)... just choose the best two from the 3/4 people you wish to ask...

We also do not recommend you sending more recommendation letters than what is asked. Admissions officers are very busy and may be turned off by the fact that you do things in your very own way without a lot of justifications. It is impossible to conceive that they have to accept self-claimed exceptions all the time, given the number of applicants and limited application reviewers.
