Please, can anyone explain this PS question? I can't get the correct answer. I need help. Thanks.

Hi swerve,

We're told that in a survey it was found that 60% of those surveyed liked honey, 40% of the people liked sugar and 30% liked both honey and sugar. If 100 people took the survey, we're asked for the number who liked NEITHER honey nor sugar. This is an example of a standard Overlapping Sets question and can be solved in couple of different ways. Here's how you can use the Overlapping Sets formula to get to the answer:

Total = (Group 1) + (Group 2) - (Both) + (Neither)

Here, Group 1 will be those who liked honey and Group 2 will be those who like sugar:

100 = 60 + 40 - 30 + (Neither)
100 = 70 + (Neither)
30 = Neither

Final Answer: B

Neither Sugar or Honey= All- Sugar-Honey+both
= 100-60-40+30
=30

We can use the formula:

Total = Honey + Sugar - Both + Neither

100 = 60 + 40 - 30 + n

100 = 70 + n

30 = n

Answer: B
