Hello I am a bit new to GMAT

Hello, this forum seems like a wonderful place to learn about the GMAT. Reading all the success stories really make me want to do well on the exam and study hard for it. I took 4 college courses this summer and also took an exam to get into an Accounting course. I am a Junior in college and want to get into graduate school for Accounting. I have historically not done much in Math class and it definitely shows sometimes when I am working the various problems. My English is a bit better, I am a native speaker and its the only language I know. I tend to do a bit better on English than Math. Anyways I bought the REA book for the GMAT and finished that..I feel like it helped me out a bit. This new book I just bought yesterday is the OG for GMAT and the math part is a lot harder and I am bad at math.. I don't get it they had some pretty hard stuff and lots of stuff you would need a calculator for. I scored a below average which is just a slap in the face. I have been getting A's in my college courses but I can't perform basic math? Anyways if you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. If I want to take the test before Fall starts I would have to do it August 21st if the date is still open by the time I decide if I want to take it. I took one of the practice exams from mba.com and scored 36 on the Quantitative and a 30 on the Verbal, I actually missed like 4 on Verbal in a row somehow which pissed me off. I just got out of summer classes on Friday so I have some time to study so I am doing this new book the OG a lot and reading stuff on here. I only have to score at least a 550, 600 is preferred on the GMAT. So if the average is around 533 and I scored average on Math and a little above average on Verbal, does that mean I am almost ready to take exam and get over 550?? Well I know I need practice, and if you guys have any tips please help, links to anything that helps or w/e..Thanks and take care.
