GMAT test date for fall 2011

by hari1973 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 4:45 pm
Hello all,
I am Hari H. Krishnaan. I was planning to take my GMAT by May 15 for Santa clara university MBA and Berkley MBA fall 2011 deadline which is June1. Would that date be o.k to complete the entire process and get my application considered for an MBA program in either of these Universities? If not, what would be an ideal date to get my application considered in both these Universities for 2011 fall? Please give me some suggestions.
Sincerely,
Hari

Hi Hari,

For a June 1st deadline, it's fine to take the GMAT on May 15. Your official results will probably be available in time for the application, and otherwise you can upload a scan of the unofficial score report that you receive immediately after you have taken the test.

However, the last application deadline for Berkeley is March 16, 2011 (see their site). If you want to qualify for that application, you'll have to take the test on that day at the latest. That will cost you two months preparation time for the GMAT, so you may want to consider applying for schools with later deadlines.

You can read my blog post on knowing when you are ready to take the GMAT on www.superduperstudent.com. You may be able to apply to both schools after all!

Good luck!
