Information regarding MIS programs

by ashhchdg » Sat Sep 24, 2011 6:59 pm
Hi Experts,
I am here yet again asking for your expert advice. Yesterday i wrote GMAT again and got a score of 610(q43,v31). I do not intend to take GMAT again. Though my low GMAT score is a deterrant i am still planning to apply to a few colleges as mentioned below.

Joseph M Katz
RIT-Saunders
University Of georgia-Terry
University of Buffalo-Suny
Thunderbird

Yesterday i got replies applying to above colleges and they all were very helpful. But it still does not solve my dilemma. I want to pursue ERP Sales/Business Analyst post graduation. I have been researching many MBA colleges and the career path offered there is that of an IT Consultant. I wanted to know if applying to MIS is better for the career path that i intend to continue in.

Its not because of the GMAT score that i am planning for an MIS. I would not mind writing GMAT for the third time, but wanted to know the exact program that i should pursue for ERP Sales/ Business Analyst position.

Current Profile:-

Total Professional experience-Currently 3yrs will be 4 by the time i join colleges.I am working with a IT company in India as a Tech Lead for a support project, team size of 15.
During my high school and college was running my family business for 6 yrs before joining the current company.
No other extra curricular as only thing that i did during my college days was look into my father's business.
Have a GPA of 3.4 and am a Bachelor of Engineering graduate.
Post MBA goals- Want to become a ERP sales manager/ business analyst, which will enable me to use my present professional experience.

Its a typical problem before going for an MBA program abroad. The reason lies in the myriad career paths you can take after the MBA. If you are so determined about IT then stick to it by getting into a good Bschool(Top 40) and then hand pick the companies from Technology Background. These IT companies offer very good profiles.

At the same time if you go to a reputed B School you will have the chance of illuminating yourself with any other good trade available there.

Attached a sheet which you can play with. This sheet lists the top techno bschools. Add columns and rows, as you like it.
