Hi,

I need advice for my chances to get into below B schools that I am targeting. I will appreciate any comments in this regard.

Target B School's & programs:
Haas School Of Business - Berkeley University (Part time Program)
Anderson School of Management - UCLA (Part time Program)
Insead - Full time
ISB - Full time

My Profile details:
GMAT - 650 (Q-48, V-30)
2nd GMAT attempt today (9/26) - 630

(Q-44, V 34)

Under Grad: Bachelors in Engineering from one of the top 20 Indian Engineering College
Under Grad grade - 80%
Total Work Experience - 10 + years (Initial 3 years in IT)

1st- 3rd year - IT (Software Developer)
4th - 6th year - Business Analyst and Project Manager in a Consulting company
7th year - till now (around 4 years) - Business Manager (Finance Operations)

Ethnicity : Indian

My biggest concern is that my GMAT score should not be a spoil sport. As, my GMAT score is less than the average & median for most of these schools.

You are not far away.

You are a strong contender.

My tip would be
1. How can you show yourself a terrific entry by showcasing your diverse work ex.
2. Show your intent of joining as a plan of things to unfold into a great journey ahead.
3. Till the MBA application, you had a vision which could only become reality if you are through.
4. Confidence and Depth

Add a few more colleges.
Forgive the statistics, they are misleading

Well, I don't know that your score is an "application killer", you still have chances. But in the schools you mentioned, if you limit yourself to ONLY applying to those, they are slim. Why? The GMAT average is just significantly higher, plus one can assume a dearth of Indian candidates, so the question will be: What makes you different? What makes you special? Why would they choose you? And that, you need to give them. Having a lot of leadership, if you have that will be something that will help, as will any very strong community service, political involvement, or entrepreneurial experience.

You are competitive for the part-time programs although your GMAT score will hurt you somewhat. Given your highest score is the one that counts, you should probably retake the test one more time to see if you can raise your score to the high 600's.
