Profile Evaluation(Male/29yrs/IT/GMAT-650)

by amimukhe » Wed Mar 02, 2011 11:09 am
Hi,

I have a GMAT score of 650(Q-47,V-32) and AWA 5.5 backed with 7 years of work experience in highly reputed IT firms in India. Most of my experience is in IT product development with no foreign travel. I wish to do a MBA with Supply Chain Management as my major and am aiming SMU - COX, MSU - Broad, OSU - Fisher and CMU - Tepper.

Please let me know about my chances of getting into these univs and also what other attributes I should add in my profile to standout from other applicants.

Regards,
Amit

Hello,

From the information you've provided I'd consider Tepper a reasonable reach (with a great application), and the other schools basically on-pars.

As far as how you can make yourself stand out, one thing would be your extracurricular interests if they are a significant part of your life. Since you are in the over-represented Indian IT group, differentiation is critical. One way you can achieve it without something obviously different is to "dig in" to your experience, and provide unique insight and reflections on your experience - that will be unique to you no matter what. Also, your goals will be a way to differentiate yourself - not necessarily what they are, but why you are pursuing them and what your vision is.

Best regards,
