Hope you are well addressed by some of the brilliant consultants here. Well, we have something special to tell you.
If you are a fresh applicant you will experience it with time, but anyways, do you really know that how B Schools really do the first filtering. As far as the coherence theory goes, which determines your special way of self-reflection alongside the truth coming out about you in terms of achievements, goals, intellectual maturity, leadership etc.
What do you think comes out in the essays? Ok! What do you expect when you want a profile evaluation? What do you normally do when you come to a forum? You are, like all the b schools, are asking for a fit from a popular consultant or peers or friends.
Birkman's method does the same. It evaluates you first for the fit in B school terms. After that it looks for the same you in words.
Its often discussed that what is the basic methodology of screening essays by B Schools. This goes more open when we go on to answer what a particular college is looking for in a candidate. Are they giving any scores, but how?
Well two things are always in your hand.. Your essays (which is how much you have known yourself) and how much you have known the college. One more thing is that how much you can match them both. For Over 50 years, Birkman's method and similar methodologies have been used to find people for CXO roles. The B Schools also use similar tools for screening.

Hi

I am a Computer Science Engineer from IIIT- Calcutta (not to be confused with IIT) with a total of 4 years of work experience, out of which I have worked in UK for close to 3 years. I appeared for the GMAT and got a score of 680(q49, v34) with AWA 5.5. I am planning to apply to international schools such as NUS, Nanyang, HKUST, RSM, HEC.

There are a lot of consultants on the forum,who can help me with my essays and interviews for the above mentioned international schools. can you suggest how to shortlist one of them ?

I will say this is a question which I would love to answer. Consultants are like helpers, friends and torch bearers. Once you hire a consultant for the "full-service" treatment, he will first take an indepth inventory of your career up until this point. He will quiz you on:

What extracurriculars you did in college.
Why you chose your major.
Your grades in college.
Why you chose your current employer.
Evidence of success in your job.
Your extracurriculars outside of the workplace.
Your future career goals.
Your GMAT scores (if you have taken the exam).
What you're looking for in a business school.
Which schools you are targeting

If you look carefully, these are the questions which you wanted him to answer. This is why I said he will help you answer this question actively and with direction.

There will be two kinds of services : End to end and Services specific to particular part of the application.

At the same time there will be Flat fees based Consultant(College Specific) or Time based Charging(hourly) Consultants.

I have explained the taxonomies and segments of Consultants. As you can understand that we cant take names, but they do create a difference. We stress more on fit and coherence of college and applicant. This requires a method(Birkman's method) and proper knowledge of the trends. Removing broken stories, correcting the overall theme and ensuring the insights from the people who matter is our way of helping. Each college requires its own story.
