subhash2185 -

Thanks for contacting Clear Admit for some advice. There are some good aspects to your profile, but your GMAT is going to be a big hurdle for you to overcome with most top-30 MBA programs. A 690 may put you just above average with a few of them, but another issue is your verbal subscore. Your quant is great, but the verbal will raise some concerns. You've already shown quant aptitude through your undergrad experience, so a higher GMAT, especially improved verbal performance, would help to positively differentiate your academic profile. I would definitely recommend that you retake the GMAT to increase your chances.

Another potential issue is the amount of work experience you have . . . these programs are all quite competitive and they generally create classes where the average student's age is 27 or 28, with an average of 4-6 years of work experience. Candidates who fall outside of that range tend to have a more difficult time gaining a spot in the kinds of programs you've mentioned. It's not necessarily an issue of the quality of your work experience as it sounds like you're accomplished and have made good progression in your work, but you'll need to very clearly demonstrate in your applications that you are a strong fit and will be an engaged student. PT programs tend to have older/more experienced candidates, but that likely doesn't make a lot of sense if you're in India (my assumption).

You'll also want to keep in mind that as an Indian national you come from an oversubscribed pool of applicants. Many candidates from India have similar academic and professional backgrounds, and these same candidates are also targeting these top programs. As a result, the already competitive MBA application process becomes even more so.

Best of luck with the application process!

Regards,
Jon
