Hi,

My question was if I do not get into a good school, "NYU or equivalent", right away, is it worth me going to an average school and then trying to transfer into NYU or is it better to retake the GMAT and try again? Is it worth starting in an average school, Rutgers University, just so i can get started? What will i need to do to stand a good chance of transfering into NYU and will I have more trouble?

Dear Kunal,

Unlike undergraduate education, you cannot transfer between MBA programs. MBA programs are too short in length and most operate in a lock-step method, so they do not accept transfers from other MBA programs. You can always start somewhere and re-apply to other programs, but your completed coursework will not transfer and so you will, in essence, be starting over. If you do not feel that Rutgers or another program is the right place for you, then you might consider trying again the next year for a school you do feel is the right place. Otherwise, if you start at one school and then decide to leave for a different program, you are basically taking (and paying for) an additional year for your degree.
