Profile Evaluation Request

by RealEstateGuy7 » Sat May 07, 2011 3:51 pm
1) At enrollment, 4 years working in commercial real estate at a major financial institution (non investment banking). Have had significant client interaction and managed client accounts independently. Received 1 promotion.
2) 720 GMAT
3) Class of 2008 UNC Chapel Hill, 3.5 GPA
4) Extra Curricular - College: Member of two clubs/organizations, held a position in one. Post College: Volunteer coach for youth athletic league for 3 seasons. Fund raising for Relay for Life.
5) No certifications
6) Target programs: Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Chicago, Columbia, Northwestern, UVA, Duke
7) Post MBA goal: Continue working in real estate, but in a more entrepreneurial role.

Please let me know what you think. How are my chances at my top 3 (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton)? Would I have a chance? For the others, am I a strong candidate, or just average? Thanks!

Hello,

I'd say from the information provided that HBS, Stanford, and Wharton would be reasonable reaches - quite high ones, especially Stanford, but worth targeting - with absolutely outstanding applications tailored to each program. Of course, you should definitely apply to schools in the next 2 tiers, which also would be reasonable reaches-to-on pars. The challenge for H-S-W would be to make your candidacy really come alive and show your distinctiveness and what you'd contribute. Try to answer the question with your application, why should they admit you over other extraordinary applicants?

Best regards,
