Hi,

Firstly thanks for taking your time in this forum. I am a 29 yr old East Indian and my bio -

Academics
Undergrad Engineering in India - 76% (Decently reputed)
Masters in a top school in NY - 3.7
Class topper, rank holder

Work experience
Started as a Junior engineer and promoted thrice during my tenure in a top Internet company in Bay area. My last position was as a team lead managing 4 Junior Engineers. - 5 yrs
Working in another popular Internet company as lead architect - 1 yr

Extra curricular
I have my own startup on the side, have hired off-shore contractors and managing them. I am in the final stages of product development and about to ship it to the market
I have led Student associations in the capacity of Vice President, during my school
Participated in various fund raising during my employment as well

Post MBA goals
To become a seasoned global entrepreneur with right mixture of technical and management exposure.


Target schools
MIT Sloan, HAAS, IMD (Switzerland)

I am not sure if this would be a concern point but I could have applied 2-3 years back if my Green card application was not pending. The application requires me to continue with employment and I wasn't able to quit the process to go and join a school.

Hello,

From the information provided, I consider you list of schools to be solid - a range of on-pars and reasonable reaches, all excellent for your target goals.

Please keep in mind that for entrepreneurship as a goal, there is a danger - using the e-word, entrepreneur, as a crutch. It doesn't really say what you want to do, to achieve. You don't need a plan as detailed as a business plan, but the impetus shouldn't be "entrepreneurship" alone but rather something you want accomplish, or a vision you want to realize. You might be interested in Accepted.com's many resources on goals.

Your profile is solid.

International experience, experience with internet companies, entrepreneurial venture are all great differentiators and will make your application strong. Your leadership experiences will help if used well in the essays.

All in all, your profile looks good and fits with the schools you have shortlisted. We would through recommend studying and staying in US post MBA for a person with your kind of profile and including CMU Tepper and Harvard in the list.

Assuming your GMAT score is competitive your application will be competitive for these schools. I assume by your 2nd post that means you now have your green card. Applying as a U.S. Permanent Resident for U.S. school greatly increases your chances because you are applying as a domestic applicant and not in the competitive Indian male applicant group.

Can you also elaborate on my GMAT score (730 , V - 38 , Q - 50)? Is it competitive enough? Do you think I should re-take it? I have confidence that I can reach upto 750 if I want.



My target schools include - MIT , Haas, IMD, Stanford (I think this might be too much of a reach)

GMAT score of 730 is decent. Investing 1 more month to improve score by 20 points doesnt make sense to us. Instead focus on essays and recommendations as mentioned above.

A 730 is fine especially since you are applying as a domestic applicant (U.S. Permanent Resident). Concentrate now on preparing the best application possible.
