by arorag » Sun Jun 22, 2008 9:30 am
can someone explain to me that is correct use of has/have, has been/have been with exapmple.
Till now I was thinking that HAS/HAVE is used when action starts in past and continue in present But if see thread BHARTI in forum there is sentence She has lived in england......
does it mean she use to live OR
she is still living there

Well you are right HAS/HAVe been is used when action started in past and is still going on.

Eg Helen has been living in London since 1982 - means she started living in London since 1982 and is till living there.

Helen live in london in 1982. - she lived there in 1982 but is no more living there.
