percent problems in general

by [email protected] » Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:30 pm
Hello,

I have a lot of trouble wasting time on percent problems. in general, i have trouble figuring out when it is best to set up a proportion (which often results in long division) or to try and use decimal numbers (which can be better for approximating). Is there a third option? is there a good guideline to follow? It could just be i need to get better/quicker at long division.

At times mental maths is all about practice. Start doing 10-15 questions on percent problems everyday and you will get into a better groove.
