Statement 1

pr=qs

Statement 2

pq (1/5)= qr



Statement 1 tells pq=rs but q and r can vary

Statement 2 tells pq=x, qr=5x but r can still vary

together they points are fixed and can solve for r

the number line did not print correctly p= 1/3 and s =1/2 (they can actually be any numbers but the markers p,q, r and s not evenly spaced)

Hi J N,

There's a small ambiguity in the question you posted. Please clarify.
In the statement you said pr=qs, whereas in your explanation you said pq=rs. Pls clarify

pr= pq+qr

qs= qr+rs

since pr=qs set them equal to each other

pq+qr = qr+rs
pq=rs



easier to see

p-----q------------r-----s

a+b = b+c
a=c
