A rectangular box measures 2 feet by 3 feet by 4 feet. What is its surface area, in square feet?

A. 24
B. 26
C. 36
D. 48
E. 52

OA E
Solution:

Recall that the surface area of a box with dimensions L, W, and H is:

2LW + 2LH + 2WH

Therefore, the surface area of this box is:

2(2)(3) + 2(2)(4) + 2(3)(4) = 12 + 16 + 24 = 52 sq. ft.

Answer: E
