When I gave the free tests that you get when you buy one of the manhattan test books, I found them real hard. I got around 550 odd in these tests. Figured I was in really bad shape. (I had done princeton and kaplan) before writing the tests.

After that I just focused like crazy on OG, (maths, verbal and the 10th edition), and got a decent score of 720.

I think the MGMAT's are good practice because their scoring algorithm is pretty decent. However, most of their questions are not representative of GMAT.

IMHO, MGMAT Cats are little tougher than GMATPrep, which is the closest thing to the real test. I'm testing on the 21st so I'll tell you more then :D

I found that the MGMAT practice test scores are good indicators of your actual GMAT score.

Maths is tougher than GMAT. But their scoring algorithms is designed in such a way that it still gives you a score which would match with your gmatprep score or actual gmat score. (ie, even if you get more questions wrong, you will have higher score)

Verbal scores are inflated by 3-4 points. SC is easier than GMAT, RC is tougher.

In spite of all these, MGMAT is a good practice test. This is second best after gmatprep.

Cheers,

I scored much lower on MGMAT CAT's verbal than on GMATprep and the real thing. So, I am not sure if the verbal score is inflated. Let's just say that the std deviation of the verbal score on MGMAT is high.

In the last month or so I've taken MGMAT and GMATPrep. The two tests tracked pretty closely. When I scored 650 on MGMAT, I did the same on GMATPrep. Then, when I scored 660 and 670 on MGMAT, I also scored so on GMATPrep. As for each section:

MGMAT math is more difficult than GMATPrep. The concepts tested are the same, but the way they are tested is what makes MGMAT tougher. Questions are longer and more elaborate and twisted.

MGMAT verbal is more difficult than GMATPrep.

Reading comprehension passages are much longer than GMATPrep.

Sentence correction is actually about the same; at least I felt so.

Critical reasoning is by far much more difficult on MGMAT.

This weekend, I took MGMAT on Saturday and scored 660 - 45quant; 38 verbal. I also took the GMATPrep test, but scored crappy as I expired by question 8 on the quant section due to illness that I am still dealing with. 620 - 42quant; 32 verbal. However, last weekend I scored 670 on MGMAT and 660 on GMATPrep, when I was NOT sick.
