Profile Evaluation Request: Trying to go back to Ohio State

Undergrad: The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business
Degree: Marketing
GPA: 3.50

GMAT: 560

Work Experience: Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Columbus, OH - Jan. '08 - Nov. '09
- Meeting Concierge
- The liaison between the sales department and the hotel.
- Assisted the sales team with large corporate groups, banquets, and other events.
- April 2009, named Associate of the Month.
- June 2009, Nominated for the Associate of the Year by the Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association.

AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation, Nov. '09 - Present
- Account Manager
- Company is ranked 24 on the Fortune 500 list.
- Hired in to the sales trainee program. Orignally scheduled for 12 months. Completed it in 6 months
and was offered an official Account Manager position.
- Currently manage a territory worth $360 million coverging the whole state of Michigan. The largest
territory in the company's North Region within the health system segment.
- My first official quarter as an account manager I exceeded the set goal and ended at over 100%.

I acknowlege my GMAT score is low. Will the GPA help? Does being an alumn help?

I appreciate any feedback you can give me.

TonyAP,

Your GPA and alumni status do help, and if your GMAT was within spitting distance of Ohio State's averages, they -- together with your great professional profile -- might put you over the top, especially if you happen to be an underrepresented minority. I don't know what your Q versus V breakdown was, but either way your score is significantly off their mean, so your odds are probably small. By all means, give it a try, but also consider retaking the GMAT and using a professional prep service if you haven't before.
