admissions advice wanted.....

by ankut » Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:29 am
Hey

I have a 740 in the GMAT, a very average GPA (from a top-10 engineering institute in India) and the following under 'extracurriculars' :

selected to represent India in the 20th International Youth leadership conference and the 5th World Youth Congress (both scheduled for later this year)

was a National-level table tennis with a lot of individual gold medals at the national level

sports captain in college

member of the debating society in college and head of the master of ceremonies team in college

(Hope you get the picture......)

I am looking for a top MSc in management programme, which is not looking too carefully at my GPA. (I intend to try for an Ivy MBA later). Also, are there any other interesting options available out there for a profile like mine? I am extremely interested in social entrepreneurship, and will be doing some good work on it this summer.

So, it's either a really broad-minded MBA program or a top Masters in management (Europe) that I am looking for applying to.

Please give me schools suggestions for my A-list, B-list and C-list.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for your question. It sounds like you have been very involved in activities outside of your studies which should be a differentiator in your applications. I think your GMAT score is strong (although you didn't provide the breakdown between the quant and verbal sections of the exam), however your average grades should be addressed. If you had a specific reason for your performance, that should be explained in the optional essay.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend schools MSc programs. We specialize in the top MBA programs in the U.S. and Europe.

Best of luck with the process!
