Request for Profile Evaluation

by abhishek118 » Fri Apr 19, 2013 5:45 am
Hey,

I wish to begin my management studies by 2014. I am planning to take GMAT in the first week of August and then apply in Round 1. Here is my brief profile -

Country - India
Gender - Male
GPA - 8.5 / 10
Undergrad - Bachelor of Technology (in IT) from a top Institute.
Work Ex - 2 years right now. Will be 3 years by the time I begin my studies.
Organization - Amazon.com
Decent extra curriculars. Got some awards for academic excellence. Good performance at work.

I was just browsing different forums and was really disheartened to see that almost all B-Schools require 4-5 years of experience. I fall into a huge pool of applicants, that is, Indian/M/IT and upon that, just 2-3 years of work exp. I really wanna start my studies by next year, and going by what I read on blogs, I have no chance of getting into one of my dream schools. Can you please suggest me on some schools where I might have a good chance of acceptance? I am totally confused on what schools to aim for.

Sure! The answer is simple: Wait. I'm afraid the blogs were right... :)

2 years is really low for an MBA. Just one more year, and you will be in a lot better position than you are now (plus if you can get promoted in the meanwhile and gain some leadership experience, that would be sweet).

Plus this will give you enough time to tranquilly take care of that GMAT (But for sure do get it out of the way THIS August. You will bless yourself a thousand times, when it comes time for you to apply).
