I would go with A.............wats the OA?

B and D wrong because of the use of past tense "was"
C wrong because awkward
E wrong because i dont think transition word "but" is required but me confused with this option...............

hi guys
the answer here can be only C or D, and nothing more
the test ||ism here
to portray....is to follow. perfectly odd construction but valid in grammer terms, i guest main reason here is linking verb, that requires that subject of the verb be the same as object of the verb, as simple example
Bob is captain..
don`t know how to chose between C and D, but finally Cin D i see that second part of the idiom not only... but also, is omitted and past tence is less valid here,

OA is C. Can an expert break down the structure here

1) I don't disagree with the parallelism of to x is to y but i find the meaning very awkward

2) C might introduce modifier issues when a series of modifiers

3) Couldn't this question be interpreted as "In order to do something....X does something else" (I do also realize that the image following (active verb) something also sounds weird)

I see Subject +Verb agreement is tested here. No role of parallelism.

Strike out the fillers( prepositional phrase) and u can see the SV agreement is tested

It's between A & C. C wins because it gets the parallel structure correct.

Interesting take. Can you demonstrate? Of the underline part all I see are singular verbs. (Is/Was)

hi tetura84
i also think that in D it is incorrect usage of idiom.
my interest lies mainly in
follow vs follow in-what is preferable?
and
present vs past tence.
