RC help needed

Thanks a lot on the 1 month prepartion guide

I have been studying for around 45 days now,feel quite strong in quant ,SC and others but RC is my nightamre I always have trouble with that.

Would be thankful for any help given on that coz I seem to spend alot of time on that section which i sure wont get in the actual exam.

Hi dollyr:

RC is a very tough subject to provide advice because there isn't a single "right" strategy that can apply to everyone. Some folks perform better by skimming, others (like myself) perform better by reading the passages more slowly.

It's going to take a lot of practice to get the hang of RC. The trick is to try lots of different approaches to this section, until you find one that works for you. Some ideas may include:
  • skimming
  • reading more slowly
  • writing notes on the side as you read
  • reading the passage then immediately writing out an outline
Be persistent and be aggressive in your practice. RC is something you can beat!

Hi,
To add on Eric's response.. I also believe in the same strategy.. That is, reading well just once => Drawing a framework of the pssage and noting the theme => Reading the question carefully => Thinking what the answer should be and if not sure to look at the relevant places in the passage => Read the answer options => POE => Answer.

The above in bold is my contribution to the strategy.. though i am still trying to figure out how to beat the RC... I have founf this approach to very helpful...

To reiterate... Remember always to think of an nswer before preoceeding for the options... This helps in cutting through the dense maze of options...
