GMAT (1-0) ME

by moatik » Mon Apr 18, 2011 7:32 am
Well, I just finished the gmat to a decent result. I kind of expected this score given my recent practice exam results. I would have liked a 600+ plus, but I only put a 6 week effort into studying. Next task, try to get into the school I want to get into; if that fails, take the gmat again around december. Here is my break-down of prep-scores and actual:

ACTUAL: 550 Overall Q35 V31

-Week 1: 390 Q22 V21 (Forgot the name of, but was some rip-off type gmat exam)
-Week 2: 490 Q32 V25 (GMat Prep test #1)
-Week 3: 580 Q38 V32 (MGMAT CAT #1)
-Week 4: 570 Q35 V33 (MGMAT CAT #2)
-Week 4: 560 Q38 V29 (MGMAT CAT #3)
-Week 5: 450 Q27 V25 (GMat Prep test #2)
-Week 6: 570 Q38 V30 (GMat Prep test #1 retake)

Materials used:

-Half of OG 12th
-btg forums / flashcards
-Manhattan prep videos (9x of them that I downloaded off PirateBay)

If I do need to retake this thing, I will try and give more effort and dedicate more time to studying. One advice I can give, study the concepts, not the problem from the gmat prep stuff. Trust me the problems are similar but very different. If your foundation in math and verbal is good, you can attack any type of problem they throw at you. And it does seem like the verbal and quant sections are tougher this time around; my Q35 puts me at a 39 percentile which means more people are getting better at math... Study hard. Never give up hope. If you fall, get up and try again!
