Hi Sourabh,

Since you are aiming for top schools in Asia, a score above 700 is desirable. However GMAT alone won't determine your chances of admission; beyond the academics will also help you in determining your candidature and your work experience plays a vital role as well. In general most of the Indian applicants are from engineering background with a good 4-5 years of work experience. So you would need to differentiate yourself from others. Start thinking what makes you unique and what's that 'hook' that will be key to your application. Make sure you follow the 'show rather than tell' principle so that the admissions committee could really understand your strengths and differentiating factors Although it is not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. So you need to ensure that in 4 years of work experience you have demonstrated the skills business schools are looking for. This could still put in a strong set of essays for you.
If you have any further query please let us know

I have 3.5 years of work experience in an Automobile US MNC. Have done B Tech in Mechanical with 66% have a good Extra Circular backup. What options do I have in good Asian B School plus what score will get me to them...[/b]
Hi sourabh_rautela,

I will tell u my view on this, mind u i am neither an expert nor have i actually cracked admissions myself (hopefully will change the latter soon)

First, it depends on the B school(not just the location) u aim at. A top 10 in the world will have an average GMAT of 700+
Second, on how you present yourself. i say this cos even HBS have students with less than a 650 (courtesy the class profile of HBS MBA)
and thirdly, according to me u are looking at it all wrong. before looking at scores, identify where you wanna go and which degree u want to pursue (there are other Business related Masters degree, just so u know)

U talk about Asian B School, so i would say round about 650 and more would be good to look at (mind u there are many who have lower and higher average GMAT in Asia). If you are looking at ISB, i would suggest you go for 700and plus!

Hope this Helps! :)
