Please explain that if Chicago time is one hour earlier than New York time, then when it is 6:00 Pm in Chicago , why it is 7:00PM in New york ?

Should it be 5:00 Pm in New york?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A train travels from New York to Chicago, a distance of approximately 840 miles, at an average rate of 60 miles per hour and arrives in Chicago at 6:00 in evening, Chicago time. At what hour in the morning, New York time, did the train depart for Chicago? ( Note : Chicago time is one hour earlier than New York time)

A) 3:00
B) 4:00
C) 5:00
D) 6:00
E) 7:00

first of all, the general understanding is one hour earlier means (x-1) hour, if New York time is x, then Chicago time is (x-1) 7:00 PM in NY means 6:00 PM in Chicago

Question: d (distance) =840, s (speed) =60, t-?
Solution: d/s=t OR 840/60=14 hours --> Arrive to Chicago at 6:00 PM then Departed from NY (6-14) hours=-8 AND noon 12 am - 8 hours= 4 am (Chicago time) OR (4+1)=5 am NY time

Number of hrs = 840/60 = 14 hrs

Chicago time evening 6 PM => NY time 7 PM

7PM - 14 hours = 5 AM NY time.
