Odd/Even

What is the remainder when n is divided by 4?

1) n is the square of an odd integer

2) n is a multiple of 3

MGMAT answer is A. But, if n = 1 then the remainder is 4, whereas with any other odd integer the remainder is 1. Is this an oversight on the part of MGMAT or am I missing something?

Hi Rarns,

When 1 is divided by 4, the remainder is 1 and quotient is 0.

Think you've done a silly mistake.

1 remainder = 1 always. 1^2 = 1 3^2= 9 5^2 = 25. sufficient.

2 3*0 = 0 remainder = 0 ; 3*2 = 6 remainder = 2 and so on.

Hence A it is.
