opening night performance

At the opening night performance of a new play,5% of the theatre patrons are late and are seated immediatly,but 30% of the patrons who are late are not seated until the end of the first act.Approx. what percent of the theatre patrons are late?

5%
7%
35%
70%
80%

HUH?i read this question thrice and still was in a loop!Not clear AT ALL!

x theatre patrons

y theatre patrons were late

.05(x)= theatre patrons who were late and were seated immediately.

.30(y)= theatre patrons who were late and who weren't seated until the end of the first act.

.70(y)= theatre patrons who were late and were seated immediately.

y/x=?

.70(y)=.05(x)

y/x=.05/.7~ 7 % B

Another way of doing this:

let the total theater patrons = 100

5% of total theater patrons who were late and seated immediately = 5

patrons who were late = x

30% of those who were late (x) were not seated immediately = .30(x)

total late = 5 + .3x = x

5 = (7/10)*x

x = 50/7 ~ 7

the total number of patrons who were late = 7%

please explain what am I missing here.
first line says 5% of the total number of patron are late and are seated immediately

2nd line says 30 % of patron who are late are not seated immediately. how is that possible. ? the patron who are late are seated immediately according to the first statement.

Isn't this is set theory problem?

5% is X and Y

30% is X but not Y
