small theoretic problems

by galit_d2d » Sun Apr 20, 2008 2:06 pm
Hi I am studying now from the math review material which is published in this forum.
but, I do have a lot of questions.
these are small questions and that is why I didn't separated them.

1.does anyone can give me an example for the
dividend = divisor*quotient+remainder
?

2.
what is HCF and LCM (if it is possible...with example..)

and If anyone can explain me the inverse variation thing...I will be very gratefull...
for example : why the equation of the problem below is : 5*4=x*8?
the problem:
If a case of cat food can feed 5 cats for 4 days. How long would it feed 8 cats?

3. percentage and discount:
why does the income that described in the right column is 550, 50,600 and the total income 1200 why did they multiply in 100(I think...)
(the question itself is with a chart so I can't supplement it to here...if anyone has the nerves to look to the chart in the math review file, I will appreaciate this)

hope for some help, galit

galit, you should pick up the MGMAT number properties guide and the ratios, fractions, percents guide. It explains these concepts in a rather systematic way with examples and problems for you to practice.
