Is A > B ?

If A and B are on the opposite sides of zero, is A > B?

(1) A + B > 0
(2) The distance of A from zero is three times the distance of B from zero.

Consider A+B>0...1)
Take A=-2, B=4, condition 1) is satisfied. (A<B)
Take A=4, B=-2, condition 1) is satisfied. (A>B)
Hence, insufficient. (No unique answer)

Consider statement 2)
A=-6, B=2. Condition 2) is satisfied. (A<B)
A=6, B=-2. Condition 2) is satisfied. (A>B)
Insufficient. (No unique answer)

Taking both conditions together.
A+B>0 and distance of A from 0 = 3* distance of B from 0.

Take A=-6, B=2. A+B>0 (not satisfied)
A=6, B=-2 ......satisfies both conditions. (A>B)
A=-2, B=6 ....satisfies 1) but not 2)
Hence, only when A is greater than B, both conditions are satisfied.
Correct answer is C)
