correct sentence : Not something Tim was known for, his perceptiveness surprised everyone.



Above sentence is right.


Not something he was known for, Tim surprised everyone with his perceptiveness.



My question is that above sentence is also right in GMAT ?If not then please explain.

second sentence is right!

Not something he was known for....this is modifier and HE refers to TIM


Tim surprised everyone with his perceptiveness...........HIS refers to TIM.
