During a one day sale, a store sold each sweater for $30 more than the cost of purchase. How many were sold during the sale?
a. Total revenue for sweaters is $270
b. Store sold each sweater for 50% more than the cost of purchase.

1) insufficient. the question stem tells you the cost of each sweater = x

the selling price of each sweater = 30 + x

(# of sweaters sold)(x+30) = 270

2 unknowns.

2) Insufficient as well b/c it doesn't tell us how many sweaters were sold or the revenue.

together:

1.5x = x + 30

1/2x = 30

x = 60

now you x, so you know selling price (90)

so you can plug it back into the equation: (# of sweaters sold)(60+30) = 270 and find the # of sweaters.

Yes C..Using statement 1 and 2 two equations will be formed, and can be solved to get the number of sweaters
