1) 3ft=36 inches, 2ft=24 inches.
length of a opening: {36-(3+3+3)}/2=27/2=13.5 inch (2 openings on the length side)

width of an opening: {24-(3+3+3)}/2=15/2=7.5 inch (2 openings on the length side)

hence, E

2)
A. |x-2|<4
=>-4<x-2<4
=>-4+2<x<4+2=>-2<x<6

B. |x-1|<3
=>-3<x-1<3
=>-3+1<x<3+1
=>-2<x<4

hence, B

Thanks mate for the quick reply..
I got the concept for the 1st but messed up the calculations with feet and all.

The 2nd one, the answer is given as (C). Hence I posted it.
I too got B.
