MBA Interviews and Notifications

by giovanniviala » Wed Mar 11, 2009 7:20 am
Hello,

I am Italian and applied to MBA programs in the US. I applied to 5 schools in January and already had interviews for UCLA, Darden and Ross.

Because I got a rather low GMAT (620 - high Q, low V), I am very anxious about the result, which should come out at the end of the month. I believe that my GMAT score is the only weakness in my application (I speak Chinese fluently, have been studying and working in Asia four years, have a British MA with excellent grades) but it makes me worry much.

1) According to your experience, what is the likeliness of being admitted when you got interviewed by these schools ?
2) How is the review process different when you are an international applicant ?

Thanks,

Giovanni

An interview from a school that conducts interviews by invitation only shows that the admissions committee has some level of interest in you as a candidate. The interview is an opportunity to really personalize your application and provide the committee with more information about yourself. In terms of international applicants, schools like to have a diverse student body however they still look for unique characteristics within their international student body. Your experiences in Asia as well as your previous graduate studies definitely strengthen your profile.
