60 days GMAT Study Guide - Day 1

First a quick question -
The email mentions -
"Complete the math diagnostic test in the Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition (p. 19-26)

* Note: Take your time completing this test. The goal here is to gain familiarity with GMAT math questions and to help identify your strengths and weaknesses."

Does this mean that I do not need to keep track of time as 75/35 mins per question to begin with?

There were 48 questions - 24 PS and 24 DS
Got 17/24 in PS and 12/24 in DS

Avg time should have been 2.03 min/question
I took 3.125 min/question in PS and 2.04 min/question in DS

I need to get faster in PS.

Interpretive Guide in page 46 shows the score as Above Average in PS and Average in DS.

How about others who are taking this course?

I'm not taking that 60-day course specifically, but I did start off with the OG 12 diagnostic and, per the instructions, I took my time. I thought it gave me a good idea of which areas I should concentrate on most. There are plenty of free and fee-based tests available that are timed when you get to that point. I'm trying to study during the week and then take one timed test each weekend to acclimate myself to the testing environment. I'm also trying to incorporate bigger words, like acclimate, colloquial and vernacular, into my colloquial vernacular so that I might get more accustomed to the verbal section; even if those words are redundant.

I suggest that students take their time. This diagnostic test is meant to ease students back into the testing environment, familiarize them with the GMAT and identify potential weaknesses. Rushing through it will only serve to increase anxiety, cause errors and decrease your chances of identifying weaknesses.

Don't worry, there is plenty of time over the next 60 days to push yourself to answer questions in under 2 minutes :-)

Hi,

I am following the 60 Day prep from BTG. I am very thankful to its creators. I can imagine how much hard work would have gone behind it..

Well, I want to add a feature to the existing OG-12-Error_trackingtool.xls.
The sheet is well designed to accept answers and check if they are right or wrong. I thought it would be better if there is a way to calculate the time taken also on the sheet itself.

Cant ask for too much from BTG. So made it myself.. Please check if this can be embedded into the existing sheet.

As per the code I have written, Before attempting the question, one needs to double click on the third column which says START. it will turn to STOP and the timer will start ticking. Once the answer is chosen, User can double click on the STOP. It will display the time taken in the fourth column.

See if this is helpful.. I can help you with the code if any is needed.

Hi Brent,

The third day of the GMAT 60 day study guide says that Your Baseline GMAT Score..
Is it the case that we are supposed to give a GMAT on that day using GMAT prep software...

Lemme know...
Also, one request... I know I am asking too much..
I got the mail today at 6 AM IST today.
Since many users of the BTG are in India...It will be great if you send these mails at this time very early in the morning...
So that people like me who study in the morning can cover the material early in the day...

Thanks Praveen for the suggestion. We'll try to find a way to work in some timing in the future error logs. Just to set expectations though, that could take a few weeks to build--we're really underwater right now!

Hi adi, just to follow up on your requests for time of day--unfortunately we can't control time of day yet, but we're working on that feature!

Also with regard to Day 3--I do see that it is indeed recommending you take a GMATPrep test.

i'm pretty confused! the mail asks me to

Complete the math diagnostic test in the Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition (p. 19-26)

i dont see OG12 book attached to the email. its just an excel sheet where i'm suppose to enter my answeres. but where is the book itself?
