Hello, I've been unlucky receiving any feedback in other posts, so I'm hoping this one will work better. I'm planning on applying to the University of Hawaii's Japan-Focused MBA program in 2009. Its the only school I will be applying to as the program meets and exceeds everything I want for my MBA. Unlike many people on these posts, I don't care about the rankings or getting into a top school because I know what I want to do and feel this school will help me achieve it best.
About me:
-25 yr. old male
-3.45 cum. GPA from Cal State school (4.0 in all major classes - Junior and Senior year)
-3.85 from NYU in Post-Grad Paralegal Diploma program
-Plan on scoring in the 600-650 range on GMAT
-(Schools averages: GPA 3.39, GMAT 630)
-I will have a little more than 3 years experience with a top 5 corporate law firm and a top 3 investment bank by the time classes will start. I've worked on the legal side of things and have a great amount of knowledge on corporate law and the legal side of investment banking. I think this will allow me to offer a lot of knowledge/experiences to classmates.
I volunteer at the Japan Society in NYC and have been teaching myself Japanese.
I also plan on taking a lot of time to perfect my essay and LOR.
I saw last year that under 200 people applied to all of UH's MBA programs, so I don't think I will be competing against too many people for my specific program. I plan on getting my application in early (making sure its complete and polished of course), have been in communication with the school and have done my research on the program. How do my chances look?? I just don't see myself anywhere else than this program and I feel now is the right time for an MBA for me.
Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated. Its been tough for me to find help online. Thanks!
