(B) In spite of his right hand and arm being crippled by a sniper's bullet during the First World War
(C) Because there had been a sniper's bullet during the First World War that crippled his right hand and arm
(D) The right hand and arm being crippled by a sniper's bullet during the First World War
(E) His right hand and arm crippled by a sniper's bullet during the First World War

Here dont we need to contrast in the sentence? I mean the sentence should start with "in spite of" or "although" ? but this is not the case...why???

The intended meaning here is not to show contrast but to show the reason for unusual way in which Horace painted.

If the intended meaning was to show contrast, it would have been something like:
Having the right hand and arm being crippled by a sniper's bullet during the First World War, Horace Pippin kept painting.

Therefore, B is incorrect.
A/D are incorrect because of the wrong usage of "being".
C is incorrect because:
1. It is wordy
2. It seems as if the First World War crippled the guy's arm.

This leaves us with E which tells us the intended meaning, and is concise.
