in D option "it" is wrongly refering to "United States" and has no reference to "coins"...................therefor option D is wrong............

I rejected answer D because 'it' refers to dollars (antecedent is plural).
Actually, based on this same logic, rejected all except A.
Correct me if I am wrong.
