selecting schools for IT marketing

by v1shwanath » Sat May 09, 2009 1:23 am
Hi,
I would like to know which are the business schools ranked between 10-30 that I should look to apply. I am looking at marketing with focus on joining an IT company (product or services).
i am currently in the IT industry, and have a good GMAT score (700+)
and have 6 yrs experience althoug not in the marketing area. i am therefore looking at a functional shift but not an industry shift.

thanks.

Dear v1shwanath,

Since you are not looking to make an industry shift, then you should simply look at schools with good marketing programs. There are many great schools in the top 40 that would provide you with a strong foundation in marketing. I suggest you look at elective offerings and placement results of schools to determine if the schools might be a good match for you.

Good luck,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the reply.
That exactly is the problem. I am unable to figure out which schools give me the best opportunity to go back to marketing in the high tech industry.
i guess some schools in the west give me the best options because of the proximity to silicon valley.
i know ucla is an option. so is haas. but i am realistically looking at programs ranked between 10-30.
can you tell me which are the schools i should look at based on these criteria:
1) between 10 and 30-35 in ranking.
2) strong marketing program (with a focus on technology would be great)
3) good internship / recruitment opportunities from high tech companies

thanks.
warm regards,
vishwanath
