Environmental scientists have been careful to point out that the pollution of estuaries has various causes, including seepage from septic fields, overuse of waterways by boats lacking proper waste disposal facilities, spraying indiscriminate pesticides by farmers, and inadequate protection of the water table.

Isn't this question easy? My choice is B, noun form should carry on in all parts in parallel...

"seepage from septic fields", "overuse of waterways... " and "inadequate protection..." are noun phrases, so the correct noun usage of spraying of indiscriminate pesticides is expressed in choice B. In question the phrase is used as verb and should be corrected to noun usage...
