When x intercept is positive and slope is also positive then y-intercept has to be negative.

area = 1/2*x*y = 1/2*4*y = 12

y=6

Since y-intercept has to be negative, answer will be -6

Its hard to beat high school maths book to clear up the fundamentals. Prep books can help you in strategies and applications.

Good luck!
